Your first appointment with Dot Smiles is designed to answer the basic questions that most patients or their parents have. Your initial consultation will also give you the opportunity to:

- Learn more about orthodontics
- Receive a comprehensive initial exam
- Find out whether treatment is necessary
- Determine which treatment options will best meet your needs
During your initial consultation, we will:
- Review your dental and medical history
- Provide a complete oral exam to determine whether treatment is necessary
- Determine the estimated length of treatment time
- Review the investment for orthodontic care and what financial arrangements are available
Our team will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all the information you need to determine which treatment is right for you.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
You’re one step closer to achieving the smile you’ve always wanted! After your consultation, we’ll schedule your first appointment, where Dr. Joffre will get you started with your new orthodontic treatment. This appointment generally takes about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible.
SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS
Visiting the orthodontist according to your treatment plan is an important part of your orthodontic journey. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We respect our patients’ time, taking tremendous care to see you at your appointment time and avoid or minimize waiting. And we know sometimes life happens and things don’t go according to plan. We ask our patients for the following courtesies:
- If you’re running late, let us know as soon as you can.
- If you need to reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if possible.
- Naturally, illnesses and emergencies occur, and you don’t always have 24 hours lead time. In that case, just give us a call to fill us in as soon as you reasonably can.

VISITING THE DENTIST DURING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
