Did you know that Dot Smiles offers virtual consultations? Using SmileSnap, we can review your smile and recommend a treatment option that is right for you, all while offering the same great care you expect from a top Boston orthodontist! With virtual consultations, there is no need to take time off of work or school, find childcare, or deal with traffic in order to meet with your orthodontist. And you can rest assured, all photos are completely secure and private to you and your care team at Dot Smiles.
We began offering SmileSnap in accordance with social distancing guidelines during 2020 but quickly discovered that some patients love the option to skip the trip–pandemic or not. We’re still quite happy to welcome patients into our office, and we’re also proud to offer this high-tech convenience!

HOW TO TAKE YOUR PICTURES
Check out the video to learn how to take clear, beautiful photos of your teeth from the angles that best help us to assess your smile. You will need to take five different photos of your smile to help us prepare the best treatment plan for your unique orthodontic goals.
- Use a smartphone to take your pictures.
- Have a friend take the photos (although selfies work, too).
- Use a flash when taking photos, or make sure you are in an area with good lighting.
- Capture your mouth only. Make sure you are close enough to your mouth to get a clear shot.
SmileSnap is both convenient and super easy to use! Plus, it’s endorsed by the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), so you can feel confident in using it.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The path towards your new smile begins after you send in the five photos of your teeth! There then four simple steps to achieve your perfect smile. These include:
PHOTO REVIEW
Our team will review the pictures that you sent us, and get back to you with our treatment recommendations within three business days.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on Dr. Joffre’s assessment of the photos you provided to us, we will recommend a treatment that will work for you, as well as an estimate on treatment length and costs.
SCHEDULING
If you choose to proceed with the recommended treatment, we can schedule an in-person appointment at a time that works for you. We understand that you have a busy schedule, and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
TREATMENT
At your initial appointment, we will take X-rays, photos, and scans of your teeth. You will also have the opportunity to discuss and settle on your treatment plans with Dr. Joffre. Please, do not hesitate to ask any questions that you may have during this time. Our team wants you to feel informed about your decision, as well as excited about your new smile!
